Helen Klisser During is an Art Advisor, Curator, Photojournalist,Consultant and Activist.

Helen works as a Art Consultant and International Ambassador at Large to several organizations, including The Hall Art Foundation (Massachusetts, Vermont and Germany), Gibbs Farm (New Zealand), The Connecticut Arts Council (Connecticut,USA), Auckland Art Gallery (New Zealand), Auckland University of Technology (New Zealand). 

Helen is the co-founder and artistic director with Mary Himes of #UNLOAD: Arts Trigger a Conversation, a statewide initiative to promote conversation through arts and education,around the divisive issue of gun violence in America.

Helen is involved with outreach for several institutions and foundations including,The Nature Conservancy,(Connecticut, USA), The Aspen Institute Initiative (New Zealand),
and UN Live: Museum for the United Nations (Denmark).
As a Curator, she has presented hundrends of exhibitions, including Eric Fischl, Edward Burtynsky, Lynsey Addario, William Wegman, Hope and Haiti, Chuck Close, Toy Stories, On Duty: Weegee, Odermatt and Mutinies; Birdseye View; Landscape Scene/Re-seen; Muse:Paul Cadmus; James Rosenquist: The Speed of Light and Beyond; Christo and Jeanne-Claude: Two Works in Progress; Roz Chast & R. Crumb: Divine Comedy &  Theories of Everything & much, much more!; Memory:Leo Kok,Mayer Kirshenblatt,Anselm Kiefer, Ursula von Rydingsvard, Christian Boltanski and Sophie Calle; Culture & DNA: Science Meets Art; Dan Budnik: Seeing David Smith; BUILD: Louis Kahn/Architecture/Sculpture; Perterdi in Context: Picasso to Pollock; Icons of Twentieth Century Photography; Edward Hopper and John Marin's New York. Highlights have included working with the Hall Art Foundation in curating exhibitions of international note.

Helen is a member of The Connecticut Arts Council and chair of the art aquisitions committee for Connecticut. This is a Gubernatorial Appointment.Helen has also served as an Art Advisor to Art Dubai and New York Armory, juror, panelist, speaker and founding member of the Westport Artist Collective (for which she was granted an ACE Award by the Cultural Alliance of Fairfield County) . Her exhibitions,symposia and lectures at the Westport Arts Center, CT and Silvermine Guild Arts Center,have garnered numerous reviews from various publications including The New York Times, The Nation, and The Stamford Advocate and Greenwich Times,Next Magazine, NY ARTS magazine, dart International and WestportNow. As Artistic Director Westport Arts Center,Helen hosted a Friday morning artCafe and founded the ArtCafe blog, which is a monthly review of the art world.

As a professional photogapher, her photographs have been published in Architectural DigestThe Art Market ReportArt New Zealandwww.artforum.comartnet.com, Connecticut Cottages & GardensHamptons Cottages & Gardenslarryslist.comMagazinMonopol MagazinNew Zealand HeraldNYCgo.com,richtopia.comstuff.co.nz and westportnow.com. Photo assignments include still photography for the 2016 New Zealand Documentary “My Year with Helen;” overnight airlift(s) with AmeriCares to Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, Guatemala; and a special United Nations assignment to Malawi and Rwanda with Helen Clark, Administrator UNDP. She has won awards for photojournalistic excellence in 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017 from the Society of Journalists, Connecticut Chapter, USA.
